Movies That Affected My Life (MTAML) is a collection of movie reviews, sort of. I say sort of, because I do share an overview of the movie, but then I also explain how the film played some role in my life.
I’ve watched movies in drive-in theaters, cars, planes, regular old theaters, Alamo Drafthouse (the best of all!), my living room, and so many other spots.
When I work, I often have a movie on in the background. It’s never a movie I am hearing (I don’t usually look up) for the first time. Just movies I’ve seen many times before. It’s like listening to music I love when I hear familiar dialogue in the background.
I associate certain movies with milestones, ages, hardships, and celebrations.
What would I have done during my teen angst days if I didn’t have Jim Stark in Rebel Without a Cause, Ducky in Pretty in Pink, and all of the ridiculous stuff Gilbert Gottfried used to show on USA Up All Night?
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t turn to Lloyd Dobler in Say Anything after each break-up, though I never got a pen.
You get the idea, so stop reading here and check out some of the reviews.
